'Kathy' 2nd May 2024

Last week came the shocking news that we had lost Ray. An unbelievably talented whirlwind of a man who's kindness and humour kept us going on the mad movie rides we enjoyed together, always running along side him to keep up. My movie mother hen for the last 14 years, he kept his little chicks under his protective wing and always made sure we were productive, creative and happy. He created a family and I'm so proud to have been part of that, a legacy that we can take comfort in. I'll miss him charging along the corridor shouting morning greetings to us all in his deep northern voice. Using his nicknames he created for us whether we liked them or not, all done with humour and affection, fueled by the strongest coffee ever. . Watching him slip effortlessly into the role of production designer was a joy, he absolutely nailed it and was enjoying himself so much. Our Friday catch up parties where he made sure everyone stopped work and grabbed a drink to chat and relax, such a nice touch and so very Ray. We will never get to the bottom of the meat thief incident - my dog trotted out of his office one lunchtime with a huge piece of meat lovingly wrapped in tin foil. I panicked, grabbed it off the dog and threw it in the bin ( its was very chewed), knowing it must have been one of his lovingly created dinners. He never said anything, I'm hoping he got a craft lunch that day! The devastating news that he has left us and his much loved family has left us all in shock. Thankyou Lindsay, Cas and Seb for sharing him with us, he always talked about you so so proudly. Thankyou Ray, for everything
